design crush: kelly wearstler

Kelly Wearstler is a creative.

And she's hip.  She dreams up color schemes, patterns and texture combinations no one else would ever imagine  and has a style unlike any other designer out there: a mix of high-end 1980s with a dose of modernity.  And always, beautiful, interesting objets.

It's really hard to match discrete fabric patterns together, but Wearstler is a natural pro.  She started designing homes in 1995, making her mark on the Avalon hotel in LA.

Then she designed BG, the restaurant and lounge in Manhattan's Bergdorf Goodman, with eye-catching porter chairs - a favorite stop of ICDC's!

KWID, as her firm is known, now boasts a line of highly successful fabrics.  They include an ICDC all-time-favorite, the "Imperial Trellis," designed for Schumacher  (the line is now for Lee Joffa):

Beyond interiors, Wearstler has created a fashion and accessories line.

Either way, the Fall 2013 home collection is stunning.
