district of chic: david mitchell

David Mitchell is a District interior designer known for his fresh and warm approach to traditional interiors in modern homes. With more then 20 years of experience, Mitchell is a member of the Washington Design Hall of Fame and received the 2010 Designers Choice award from Home and Design Magazine.

He also writes a popular Blog, David Mitchell Uncensored. His work has been published in Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Veranda, Metropolitan Home, Southern Accents, Home and Design, Spaces, Washington Post and The Washingtonian.

Mitchell prides himself on drawing on clients' personalities to create tailor-made spaces, calling this approach his signature "non-signature" style.

Mitchell has said: “The best compliment I ever got was that I ruined a client’s social life because all she wanted to do was stay home.” In addition to his interior design, Mitchell developed his own line of colorful throw pillows, he has partnered with Salvations Architectural Furnishings to create a line of cocktail, dining, and side tables made of bronze and steel.

Lush velvets, eye-catching buffalo checks and an expert's use of neutral palates make these rooms stunningly beautiful and alluring.  Enjoy.
