One of ICDC's favorite places to source furniture is Eisenhower Consignment.  From a la mode accent tables (some of which were recently spotted in upscale establishments like Kellogg Collection) to stunning antiques, Eisenhower is a gem in the rough.  It is a hike out to Alexandria, but the prices and quality make a trip worth-while:

pair of accent tables $125
drum table/bar with marble-top $325

chest with original brass pulls $225

marble-top chest $395

pair of asian vintage etageres $149 each

occasional stool $95

pair of bergere chairs $275 each

pair Hickory Chair armchairs $125 each (easy to slipcover or reupholster)

pair of modern glass tables $79 each

antique cherry folding game table $295

antique mahogany china cabinet $598

dining or entry table $299

smaller mahogany china cabinet $399

beautiful asian screen $325

While we're on the topic of inexpensive furnishings in DC, check out the ghost chair and pair of parsons' chairs available on Craigslist today:

rooms with a view

ICDC is traveling next week and thought it might be nice to share a few images of "rooms with a view,"  beautiful enough for even the most discerning Lucy Honeychurch.  Don't worry, there will still be posts from the road!

why don't you..update your accents?

Accent furniture - like a beautiful stool - can serve as a seat, a small table, a larger coffee table when combined with others, a foot stool and even a plant stand!  They can be moved around the room to accommodate guests or just when the need arises.

emissary $209

For those with more modern sensibilities, accent tables are 20% off at West Elm:
