Some people are just so much fun.
Potter and interior designer Jonathan Adler and his ever-so-chic husband Simon Doonan (he's the creative director at Barney's! Gah!) decided that they wanted to put a ping pong table in their living room. Who needs a stuffy, formal area anyway? A home is supposed to be lived in!
But the traditional green table just wouldn't do.
So Adler and Doonan created a custom table by using the bottoms of two Sarineen tables and a plywood top covered in paisley.
As some ICDC readers will know, Adler is known for his creative pottery - but his store also specializes in unique and fun needlepoint designs. So, to top it off, Adler had needlepoint covers made for the ping pong paddles..what style!
This Thanksgiving, why don't you make your own chic ping pong table? A championship game might help to shake off the turkey, and more importantly, all that stuffing!
In the mean time, stop by his new DC outpost! Jonathan Adler's Georgetown store is now open (taking over the old Gap Kids store at 1267 Wisconsin Ave, NW.), and he'll be there on Tuesday, November 27th from 6-8pm to promote his new book 100 Ways to
Happy Chic Your Life (ten percent of the proceeds from the evening will
benefit the Washington Ballet). ICDC will attend the book party and be sure to update you, dear readers on all the fun!
